Cordial. Gentle. Changed tone. Make peace with eye on history. Love fest. Civil.

Like a couple of kids caught throwing sand, last night Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have obviously decided to play nice in the California sandbox.

Whether the attitude adjustment could be attributed to the untimed "no pressure" format of last night's debate or the fact they together emerged from the fracas and remain standing, the two Democrats remained on topic and off each other's nerves.

With Super Tuesday on the horizon, both are well aware that one misstep or misspeak in could break a political hip.

Seated side by side with shoulders squared toward the audience, on occasion, the candidates leaned slightly away from the other just perceptible enough for viewers to catch a bit of the underlying competition between the two.

Otherwise, Obama and Clinton looked like a couple of colleagues from work interviewing for the same promotion.

Hollywood Perfect.

When all was said and done, the candidates exchanged whispered words over a handshake and a quick hug.

It doesn't take a lip reader to catch that nonverbal.

The Democrats are heading into the convention unified.

When Barbara asked me how the debate went (I watched the tape while she went to bed prior to a workday and after a night out), I said, "They behaved themselves." She seemed disappointed.

Yeah, both of us like it when Barack kicks ass, but I gotta admit, I liked the Kumbayah, and I thought they both did themselves and the Democratic Party a lot of good.

Stay positive, you too, and if there's ass to be kicked, let Bill Clinton go ahead and cost Hillary the nomination (that's both a predicted and a desired result, from my viewpoint), and if you twist my arm, I'll hit Hillary my own self. I got plenty of ammo to hit her with.

I just heard that Barack has pulled within two points of Hillary nationally--the Edwards supporters are moving to Obama....let's see how much longer nicey-nice plays out...:)

wow. i think that makes sense though. i personally see a huge demographic difference between the kind of people who would vote for edwards or obama, versus clinton.

i think that's a very interesting stat. 4 days to find out!
