The Coattails of Barack Obama

While the media spins Hillary's attempt to make herself look Presidential through her allusion (or illusion) that the Big Girl would consider Barack Obama as a VP running mate...(although her recent Super Tuesday II delegate win was just slapped down by Don't Think So Wyoming)...

....the rest of us can take a break from this Dream On mentality to consider one political earthquake of a reality check.

Democratic newcomer Bill Foster rocked yesterday's IL-14 special election by winning the red state red seat, previously held by Dennis Hastert.

Considered a solid Republican seat, the "stunning margin" by which Foster won over opponent Jim Oberweis is considered nothing short of a miracle.

With all precincts reporting, Foster defeated Oberweis 53 to 47%.

Barack Obama--who endorsed Foster--is credited with "not just for cutting an ad for Foster and helping with the GOTV effort, but also for proving that his coattails can help even a political newcomer win in a red district."

Nothing makes a rank and file Democrat Super Delegate sit up and bark woof faster than the glitter of proven influential outreach via association with a solid popular political leader, capable of building the Party through endorsements of candidates seeking seats in Congress and state legislatures across this country.

"Despite spending 20 percent of their cash on hand, the [Republicans were] unable to hold a seat easily won by President Bush and held by Speaker Hastert for 20 years," said Rep. Chris Van Hollen, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Committee.

Van Hollen's Republican counterpart, Rep. Tom Cole, attributed Foster's victory to Sen. Barack Obama's popularity.

Spin that, Hillary.

Obama's win in Wyoming came with a net gain of 2 delegates! The media and you seem to make it out as a great win, they will never carry that state in the general.

Sorry to here about Hastert, but giving Obama, rhymes with, coat tails at this early stage is unfounded. You are right it was a miracle, oh yea shouldn't evoke God in this its a democrat. I thought God was out of bounds in this election, just ask Huckabee.

Oh darlin'. HRC would never aura the perception that she would settle for VP--she's saving that job for her hubby.

As far as Obama and his coattails--hang on digi--you're in for a wild ride.

Why don't you use adult terminology? Obama's coattails will be cut off by his association with Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Sure--keep telling yourself that--when bad behavior is ignored in children, the attention seeking always get worse before acceptance that the same old crap doesn't work anymore sets in.

Speaking of children. Should children hear the hate filled speeches in Obama's and Rev. Wrights church?

You must be a Republican. Protect the Children--the famous catch frame. Children are the responsibility of the parent--not the federal government--that being said, we live in a country where speech is constitutionally protected. you can shout or you can pray, and no churches are going to be burned. Not in America, the land that I love. Not in a country governed by a living Constitution, no matter how troubled we may be. No matter how troubled YOU may be. I'd rather my children hear such speech in my parental presence and question me to be prepared when they hear it on the streets from their peers.
Go spread your hate somewhere else.
